The fact that his feet were dragging behind him as the carried him to the van has me wondering if he was injured while being arrested. Have they done an autopsy to determine if it was possibly a pre-existing injury that was worsened during the arrest. I had a friend who walked around for a week with a broken neck before he got into a second wreck and they discovered it on the xray. I'm sure they would see some scar tissue or something.

To quell violence, maybe. I am not a supporter of his, never voted for him, etc, but this is just a matter of wanting to be outraged.

I'm pretty sure in the video right after police tackled him he was screaming in pain and couldn't really move his legs (person videoing was actually screaming that). There was a brick curb there and people were saying he landed on it on his back. This seems likely since he was in so much pain. I seriously doubt someone's spinal cord could be damaged riding around unbuckled in a van no matter how rough the ride was.

I can see that if you were running your mouth in the back seat of the car cause you were mad that you got arrested, they brake checked you into the cage.

Knots on heads will cause a quick change in attitude

Guy runs from police

Police catch him, tackle him (injury starts here)

Roughly handle him (like a criminal, which isn't that extraordinary) and put him in the van

Negligently fail to secure already injured criminal, exacerbating his injury

Confluence of these things results in rare severe injury and death, which police largely ignore because they think he's a criminal just doing criminal things (complaining of pain and mistreatment)
