Is the rule against this ever enforced?

I decided to park on S Stadium Drive to tailgate Saturday got out there at 9am only to find that half the parking spots were being reserved by old decrepit folding chairs. Ended up setting up in the area but certainly would have preferred to have the shade occupied by the chairs that many stayed in place until 3pm.

What is the rule of the land on this? Just run a chair over next time?

quote:

Saving Spaces
Policy: Saving parking spaces for other motorists is not permitted in any area.
Reason: Parking on the LSU campus is first-come, first-served, except in lots and streets with reserved spaces.

Move it, saving parking spaces is not allowed, when the person inevitably bitches tell them that they are free to call campus police and file a complaint.

You have the rule on your side. If you see a spot you want, just move the chair and take it.

I guess you can junk the chairs and move in, if you go in with eyes open that you may have to throw hands with some drunk douche or her husband.

What specific area? Are you talking about the spots along the lake or in a lot to the west of highland?

were there people around watching these chairs that you could have talked to or did someone place them out there and just leave?

I guess I was in shock of was so widely accepted as ok by so many people. Had to be at least 40 chairs saving spots out there.

Both sides of S Stadium near the lakes by Ag Lot and inside Ag Lot.

It's not widely accepted, except by jerks. My daughter parked in one of these and found a page long note on her car lecturing her for breaking some social norm. I wish I had saved a copy. Selfish a-holes.

Just move the chairs and park, but prepared to diffuse a drunkard who wants to fight.

Well there was a chair next to where we parked that stayed vacant until about 1pm when a friend of some guys tailgating next to us finally showed up so I guess it's at least a mixture of both. Since I have a 4 yo with me and wife I would rather not start a fight over it. Would prefer the policy be enforced or that the fellow fans have some common courtesy without having to deal with a bunch of drunks.

Was tailgating out there two years ago for the Alabama game, saw chairs saving spots all around... a friend of ours showed up a little late but had a bunch of our food, so we moved someone's chair for him to park. Of course the dude comes storming across the street yelling that that was his chair and his spot. We told him that saving parking spaces isn't allowed, but we'll even let him double park our guy in if he needs to. Dude kept on ranting then bailed out back to his tailgate... a few minutes later his people showed up and they were all Bama fans. frick them.

I think people don't move the chairs b/c they don't want their car keyed during the game.

Those people are oddly aggressive at times but as people have said in the thread they have no authority to hold spots.

What would be funny is to have you print the parking regulations run over the chairs and then proceed to hand the guy the rule book requesting he call the LSU parking police.

I wouldn't destroy someone's property (running over a chair) before offering to call the cops, but I like the idea.
