These people are ruining the sanctity of marriage, and their children. If you marry someone, procreate with them, then it is your parenting duty to deal with your issues and be loving parents to your kids.

Cool, your kids won't have to choose which parent to run to in the auditorium, but they will forever be scarred and wondering why their parents are shite.

This is so fricking wrong.

People grow apart from each other. It happens. Its better for the kid to not have miserable parents who hate each other and constantly fight living in the same house with them.

Assuming they are amicable and agree on parenting issues post-divorce.

Like I said, I have been a part of both scenarios as a child. It is far better for the child to have amicably divorced and happy parents with open lines of communication than it is to have married parents who fight constantly and are generally unhappy.

That's a bit dramatic but I'd say the more likely effect is that they will be influenced to have their own kind of fluctuating square dance of relationships when they grow up. The insidious aspect is that not all marriages end so amicably and they may wonder why they have so much ill will and strife for themselves when mom and dad were able to be pleasant about it. Answer is: mom and dad are not the norm. People are far more likely to be emotionally damaged by divorce.

If they're so happy with the state of their relationship now - why'd they get divorced?

Studies show that kids from broken homes are more successful. I left my wife and haven't come to a single sporting event unless I'm dead drunk.

How does it feel knowing my kids are going to be better than yours?

This is also a very dumb question.

They can get along great outside of marriage and not in a marriage. Happens all the time. Totally different relationship dynamics.

It's weird how self-assured they can pretend to be that this will all be perfectly amicable and peachy forever after.

Were they not so similarly self assured when they made their prior marriage vows?

People are dumb. That's all I get out of this. And it really has nothing too much to do with taking a stupid selfie.

Interesting. I'll read that study when you link it. Do you recall how demographics and socioeconomic status were accounted for in those results?

the death of traditional marriage

The death of traditional marriage is a myth made up by liberals to promote gay marriage. Just google it. Many studies have been done to prove most people stay marriage and when a couple regularly attends a church the percentage is super high for successful marriage.

I agree with you. But, no reason to celebrate it and teach your kids it is ok to basically treat marriage like dating and you can just cut it off instead of work out your problems.

These people are attention whoring and celebrating a divorce? Pretty screwed up so I do feel sorry for the kids.
