I have noticed the OT takes special pride in calling out individuals who claim to be former Seals. It is like a sacred claim in here. Be warned before you brag.

My only brag is that I played golf with a Navy Seal once. He was not much bigger than me. I asked him some questions about his training. He told me that they had been trained to improvise and to kill with house hold kitchen items.

Had a buddy go to the Naval Academy worked with some Seals on some of his missions as a pilot.

Do we have any Seals, former Seals or family that post in here? What kind of personal stories do you have about the Seals?

Never known a SEAL. Have met plenty of posers/fakes.

I know one Army SF guy. Nice as can be and only family and close friends know what he is. They do not brag or tell anybody. The talkers are usually full of shite and likely worked the Army motor pool.

Not many SF guys under 23 anyway. They look more like accountants.

Delta gaurding Stormin Norman.

Badass Mofos right there.

No Navy SEAL friends but I'm sitting across the desk from a former Marine FORECON right now. Not a dude I'd ever want to mess with.

FORECON is behind enemy lines special operations type of stuff.

Dude wants to kick a Navy Seal's arse! Straight tripping and then someone says oh Seals are no better at hand to hand than a civilian... Yeah, Okay!

A childhood friends is a Green Beret who's done two tours in AFG and had his picture in the NY Times in the middle of a firefight. You would never know by looking at him, and he probably wouldn't tell you if you asked. Looks and acts like the most average guy in the world.

I know two former seals and they are both great guys. One is a big LSU fan but I'm not sure if he posts here. They don't talk about it much and one was even shocked that I knew he was a former seal. His ex-wife told my wife.

On a side note who would be considered more elite Seals or Delta? Is one even better than the other or are they just specialized in different areas.

You ever been in that scenario with one? I have, albeit a training scenario

They are not trained to fight, they are trained to kill with weapons

The hand to hand combatives those guys learn are not very advanced and not at all practical unless you work them as often as they do their weapons training

Which doesn't happen at all. So with a rifle and 100 yards or in a shooter house, you have no shot

In a fistfight, they have the advantage of being mentally and physically tough, but their actual fighting skill isn't anything special

Still...they are taught how to fight. Your average Joe in a barfight has not. Even if the methods "aren't advanced", how many civilians on the street have ANY type of fight training? Probably very few.
