Your health doesn't matter. Only corn subsidies.

quote:

High fructose corn syrup is a killer. Since humans started consuming it, obesity rates have more than tripled and diabetes incidence has increased more than seven fold. Even when used in moderation it is a major cause of heart disease, obesity, cancer, dementia, liver failure, tooth decay, and more.

So what does the FDA do about this silent killer? It allows food producers to change the name of the infamous sweeter in order to trick consumers into thinking they are not eating high fructose corn syrup.

That’s right, high fructose corn syrup now goes by a new, deceitful name – “Natural Sweetener” – designed to trick customers into making ill-informed choices that will impact on their health.

And the political board spends 20 hours a day bitching about what is ruining our nation. The answer is simple, FDA and Dept of agriculture.

These arse hats are evil. They lie and mislead about a lot of stuff.

The human body prefers glucose as its energy source. However, it quite readily accepts fructose, too.

When ingested, the fructose is shuttled to the liver (unless you're really energy depleted) and then diverted to liver mitochondria, which either package the fructose as glycogen for short-term use or store it as fat.

While this process is reversible, it's not a good thing for liver health or function if it continues for any length of time. Some scientists have even gone so far as to call fructose "alcohol without the buzz."

Unfortunately, the fact that fructose can be stored as fat and that it's potentially damaging to the liver have caused a disproportionate fear of fructose, a condition I call "fructose derangement syndrome."

The research just doesn't support the fears. John Sievenpiper, a nutritionist at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada, looked at 41 studies using humans and noted that when people ate the same amount of calories, whether it was from fructose or some other carb source, they gained the same amount of weight.

And, you can easily make an empirical observation and see that despite the mass avoidance of all things fructose, national obesity claims have continued to rise.

But let's apply some logic to the situation. The most "potent" fructose blend – the much-dreaded high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) – has a fructose content of about 55%, while the remaining 45% is glucose. Compare that to sucrose, or table sugar, which is a blend of 50% glucose and 50% fructose.

That means that if you were to eat 100 grams of HFCS a day, which is a little over the amount you'd ingest in three cans of Coke, you'd be getting 5 more grams of fructose than if you ingested an equal amount of sucrose.

That's small potatoes, which, coincidentally, contain a relatively high amount of fructose, at least in comparison to most other vegetables.

I quit soda a while back. Bottled water with a squeeze of Mio, or sometimes sweet ice tea. Watching these enormous, disgustingly fat families stuff their motorized shopping carts with Mountain Dew and Coca Cola 2 liters put me off that shite.

the FDA -- the agency designed to PROTECT consumers, has been for sale to the highest bidder for decades.

How else could you explain the ever changing food pyramid?

How else could you explain the constant recommendation of baby cow growth hormone...milk.

For fricks sake people, even cows only drink milk as babies. ADULT COWS DRINK WATER. Yet we are supposed to drink another animals breast milk for our entire lives??? If we could steadily mine it.... would we all be drinking human breast milk for our entire lives???

Wake up people, dairy OWNS the FDA. Milk is not good for you and especially at the levels most people consume. Save your calcium robotic mind controlled response... studies are now coming out that show that milk actually CAUSES osteoporosis. I.E. Countries that drink the MOST milk of the MOST osteoporosis. Because of acidification and your body's reaction to it... milk actually causes your body to RELEASE calcium from your bones.

TLDR: The information is out there. In this era of fake news and fake science --- if you simply believe everything the media tells you , you are a fool.

Cows milk....would be bad for a cow to drink... for its entire life. Just think about that.

And to the OP - the FDA is a fricking sham and recommends it biggest financial supporters - beef and dairy. NEITHER of which is good for the human body in mass consumption.

Wonderful.

You know, when I eat high quality proteins from reputable sources and mostly fresh plants on the side, I feel like a whole new person.

Has nothing to do with HFCS and everything to do with the explosion of the sedentary lifestyle.

Huh? Cargill, tyson, pioneer, etc have the dept of agriculture by the nuts. They own them. If one day the 5 biggest ag giants wake up and decide that cheese is the most important meal. cheese will be pushed as the new thing to eat to be healthy, etc.

I dont care how much money these companies make, just don't lie to us.
