New Orleans was only 25% black until the late 60s. This notion that it's a historically black city is silly.

That's because Bourbon St does look the same as it did before Katrina.

So in other words you're talking out of your arse and don't know shite about the city.

Just curious. Where is your "business" and where does your family live?

Yea I'm well aware of his MO. I wonder if he covers his eyes when he drives by the unmissable giant, shiny new medical complex on the edge of downtown so he can pretend it doesn't exist and cling on to another talking point.

Ya, we looked there too. Some really nice shady streets and parks, etc.

Just couldn't find the right property.

West of Paris Ave & north of Broad + Canal a decent guideline for real estate in that area? Been looking around there, but I'm not as familiar with there as most other areas of NOLA metro.

Yeah, BSJ is awesome. I remember growing up and fishing there. Everything was perfect...growing up in Mid City, fishing, not a care in the world and going to school in the Quarter. Then, once I grew up, I had guns put to my head and was robbed numerous times. Thankfully there is a Northshore.

Post Katrina- "We want economic development in New Orleans." Now- Just not in our dilapidated neighborhoods where the poor live.

I despise the city I grew up in and will never go back and haven't since '02. That dump is what it is now and it won't change.

It's still my hometown and will always be special to me. I visit often, just prefer to live elsewhere for many reasons. NOLA is awesome, cause its NOLA.

Walking distance to parkway and the actual bayou. I would guess 1/4th of the houses on surrounding streets are either under renovations or undergoing some sort of improvements. It's going to be an amazing area in a few years.

The park/bike path going from here to downtown is going to real nice once the construction is finished.

I lucked out and found a house online within minutes of being posted. Completely renovated with new appliances. I met the real estate guy the next morning and he said he had over 30 calls within 24 hours for the house.

Thats all fine and dandy, but I've lived in that neighborhood on and off since 1973. Until the mistakes of soldiers returning from WW2, and the housing that was provided (taken advantage of when they left and carried on with careers, once they got on their feet), it will never change. Sucks, but thats the troof.

I think Jim Crow had a bit to do with that.
