We didn't have these issues when moms were moms and stayed home to raise their kids and dads were dads and provided for the family and lived within the means of one income.

There's a difference between a kid being hyper and a kid literally not being able to sit down long enough to pay attention to what he needs to. Yeah some kids are medicated when they don't need to be. But to act like there aren't kids or people that need to be medicated is just ignorance.

Never thought I'd believe in ADHD and the Meds, after seeing one of my daughters who barly got out of highschool , flunk out of LSU first semester ,then BRCC. Get tested and on Adderal as a 21 yr old go on to Graduate from LSU on deans list,it changed my opinion. Now is it abused? Highly

That isn't what the psychologist author of this article is claiming.

I know. I'm just saying for the future posts in this thread from people that claim ADHD isn't an actual disorder. Yes there are people on here I've seen claim this before.

My BIL had undiagnosed ADHD until college and almost flunked out. Got it figured out and he's fine.

Maybe we can jump the gun on diagnosis, but it's very real. We're fairly certain our daughter has it.

Double negative, and you're wrong.

It is a disorder, largely believed to be caused by toddlers sitting in front of Disney movies with fast moving images creating a short attention span. Be parents and stop parking kids in front of the TV.

That's just about all I can say. She wasn't hyper, she had concentration problems. She now is an English Teacher at that same Highschool. And she stopped using with no problems when pregnant. It helped her concentrate and still does.

I have no doubt that ADD/ADHD gets overdiagnosed. But it's naive to think there aren't kids with ADD/ADHD just because there was a point and time it wasn't really diagnosed.
