Tesla Model S can be used as a boat in a pinch, Elon Musk confirms

Musk's comments were in reaction to a video shared over the weekend (embedded above), which appears to show a man driving a Tesla Model S through a flooded tunnel in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Model S seems to be unfazed by the metre-deep water: it simply starts floating, then powers past some flooded internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, the water gracefully lapping against the car's bonnet.

We *def* don't recommended this, but Model S floats well enough to turn it into a boat for short periods of time. Thrust via wheel rotation.

With the biohazard weapon defense they are putting in their cars and this boat thing, they are becoming appocalypse machines. Until you need to charge....

Pretty incredible stuff. It also mentioned that the cabin is sealed well enough to defend against biological weapons.

Well, they have a long term plan to have solar stations everywhere which would be perfect for the apocalypse.

Didn't look at all like a boat in there. Looks like it was still on the ground steering. It just wasn't taking on water
