Termites coming through bathroom vent?

Came home tonight to the most bizarre situation. All of our bathroom vents had what appeared to be worker termites falling out of them onto the bathroom floor below. Probably 10-20 per vent if I had to guess.

No wings, about a half inch long and skinny.

Anyone ever heard of this before? Are they crawling in from the roof exhaust panels?

Had never seen these before today.

TIA.

Hate to break it to you but you're going to be out the $30,000 that your home would have been worth.

They're drawn to the moisture. May or may not be a big deal. Obviously check roof flooring, rafter, joists, etc. around those vents. If there are no wet boards, you are probably safe. Best thing to do is call a termite pro though.

Termites are drawn to moisture, so bathrooms tend to be the most likely place to find them in the house. But are they dead or alive? If dead, your termite control is doing work. If they're alive, you need a new termite pest control provider.

I don't know your situation, but I don't understand how people don't treat for termites, when they own the home.

I don't think most termite service protect airborne infestations. They only prevent from ground around the house.

Better call them or someone quick so they can check the rest of your attic (and house). Airborne swarms are common this time of year in my area.

Not a professional and I didn't stay at a holiday inn last night. My understanding is that they need access to a source of water to create a permanent infestation. Your termite treatment consists of blocking access from your house to the ground where they would usually get their moisture (the little tunnels they would build on your slab). So long as you don't have some other source of moisture that they can access inside your house (roof leak, pipe leak, etc), all they can do is fly in, look around and then die.

This happens every year where I am. They are swarming. If your house has been termite protected, you are more than likely okay. They will die from lack of water if you have no leaks in your house. If you don't have termite protection, you might want to call a termite company and get it.

Termites can get into a crack the thickness of a business card. Good luck.

Nah, they're just swarming. They are attracted to any shred of light and yes, they can find it from the vent if it exits through the roof. Same thing happens to us, as well as our range hood vent.

Yes it's no big deal. I get few come through my range hood vent if the kitchen lights are on at dusk and I'm cooking. They die in a matter of hours after dropping their wings when they land.
It's swarm season

Thanks. This is all it was.

We do have termite coverage with a pest control company for those who asked.
