I do my own spraying. I just don't have the product name I use, but it's the same as the termite companies. About 35-40 bucks for a small bottle.
those termite companies half assed sprayed around my house, especially the couple of times just before a rain, so I stopped using them. With modern houses, you won't have much to worry with.

Now the older houses are a different story. Honestly I think it mostly a rip off in general - "termites".

Most of the time it covers more than just the actual spraying. It's pretty much an insurance policy. If you get termites while under contract, the pest company pays for your damages.

Read the policy. Many of the termite contracts will only pay to come back out and spray! Terminix is pretty good I think but others are terrible.

Not many companies cover damages anymore. Most companies only guarantee the removal of the termites if you become infested.

The companies that cover damages, which are few and far between, are twice the cost for treatment

OP if you want to dig a trench around your house and spay it yourself, it can be done for a quarter of the cost

I too believe it is like an insurance policy. I pay $115 each year at the time of the inspection and the charge includes a 30 minute inside and outside inspection and a spray. I've had the on company for 25 years. If I notice any of the bugs between inspections, I would call and they come out to spray and assess any damage, then have the damage corrected. And, the inspector also notes for me if there is anything I need to take note of, such as the beginning of window sill rot or water stain which may lead to mold, etc.

I have one with Terminix. $200 a year gets unlimited treatments plus a 100% guarantee that if any new damage is found, they will pay 100% of the repair/replacement costs.

You can't beat $200/year for that kind of peace of mind. Of course it was over $1,000 for the initial treatment. Still worth it.

Up here in TN only a fool wouldn't pay the $200/yr for termite contract. Based on my line of work (real estate) I'd say almost 50% of houses with no contract here have some form of termite infestation.

The first house that we bought we had it for the 8 years we lived there, moved to a new home and didn't think about until about a year later when I noticed the little bastards coming out of the ground building a highway up my foundation. I had to dig a trench around the entire house and spray some kind of chemical in it, it worked but needles to say I have a company come out to take care of it now.

I'm a new homeowner Uptown Nola. House was built in the 1940s and is 1300 sq ft. Last year Cabellero Pest Control charged me around $175 for an annual spraying and to maintain the contract. This year they want $725 to start the contract from scratch and do a complete initial treatment saying the previous contract was about 7-8 years old. Do these fees seem reasonable? Is this a good company or should I look for another?
