re: Telling my parents they will be grandparents tomorrow

We bought a little pair of those white baby shoes and gave them to my momma. I like the prego idea... Throwing something out instead of the pee pee stick, but this is your thing so rock on.

May want to wait until you are a bit further along before telling everyone in your circle. I

wish you and your family the best big chap!

LOL at you for telling the OT you're having a child before you tell your parents.

But, congratulations.

That's what I was getting at last night. I know that feeling. It sucked.

This dude is giving good advice.

I would wait, unless she is past 3 months.

You never think it will happen to you (and I really hope it doesn't) but it is very common.

This. Don't forget, it goes along with a jar of spaghetti sauce, which makes it just a bit more disgusting.

And this...

While no one wishes anything bad upon you and your wife, those first 12 weeks are probably the most risky. You don't want to go through the heartbreak of having to tell people bad news over and over if (God forbid) the worst happens.

Pee sticks are fricking gross! That's a very bad idea. Here's an idea after your wife pees on it THROW IT AWAY! The first thing my best buds wife did was get on facebook and post her fricking pee sticks dumb cunt! You may find it cool but nobody else does.

U mad bro?

Some people think it's cool. It's the first visible sign she's pregnant.

re: Telling my parents they will be grandparents tomorrow
Didn't read a single reply BUT for child #3 for us, we bought a tri-photo frame and put a pic of each of our first kids with a "expected on 2/14/01" note in the 3rd slot.

They were bowled over and my DAD actually said "that was a REALLY COOL way to tell us"!

Said 3rd child is now 12 1/2 and I'm getting old!!

Trashy people think a lot of things are cool but it doesn't make it so.

Wait on sharing the news. I waited until I was 10 weeks to tell husband and then 12 weeks to tell family and then 20 weeks to tell work.

Actually, for one of my kids, the first visible sign was the puke in the toilet, and I didn't give that to anyone either!

I'm in the "it's gross" camp too, if you want to show it, take a picture of it and give them that.

Second time we waited. It is my advice to you.. Tell your IMMEDIATE FAMILY now. Wait to tell your friends and other family members after the first trimester. Trust me. If something was to happen, it will kill you and your wife to explain it to people 100 times. Because for some reason, if you tell someone the bad news... Lots of people think it is ok to ask how y'all found out about the miscarriage and did she get a DNC, how did she take it, etc.

This. Seriously. Can't explain the feeling of telling people she lost the baby. Don't wish that upon anyone. Share with your immediate family if you must, but save everyone else until it's a lot later and lower risk.

Otherwise, the picture deal is pretty cool for telling everyone. Especially since its a "reception" type event. The prego sauce is played out IMO. We got my mom a "Grandmother" charm for her necklace/bracelet.
