The so and I are talking about moving to Conroe. I have been offered a job there and it's relatively close to her parents.

I have driven through it a couple of times on the interstate. That's the extent of my experience/knowledge.

What are land prices like?
Is there good local food?
Are the people asshats or generally nice?
Are Catholics burned at the stakes there?

the good people of Sacred Heart Church on Frazier St would love to have you.

I would recommend The St. Anthony of Padua in The Woodlands though.

Conroe isn't that bad. The lake is a little overrun but I think the community is downright nice. The cost of living should be reasonable.

I lived there as a kid, and go through all the time on the way to Huntsville. If I were going to live in the are, it would probably be in Bentwater.

We're looking to purchase 15-20 acres of land. We would initially live in town and then move out.

Just north of there is some really pretty country if you are interested in getting property. I like The Woodlands though. I don't have much property, but I've got access to tons of walking paths, parks, good schools, etc.

The one time I was there it seemed like another extension of a typical Houston suburb. Not my scene, but some people like that.

Look out 105 west from Montgomery to Plantersville, 45 North in Willis and New Waverly.

Gator Speedway is the best thing about Conroe/Willis.

I'd think because of the Hispanic population in Houston there is a bigger Catholic influence much like the big Catholic influence in south La.

Prob your typical type people that live on the outskirts of a city Suburb.

With the 100k+ population in The Woodlands, there is only 1 Catholic Church. Plenty of other Christian churches though. It's not the same as South LA.

nothing great or bad about it ... it was a legit small town for a bit, but the past 20 years have seen it become a suburb of houston ...

If you are going to work in Conroe, I'd say it isn't bad. Personally, I'd live out toward Montgomery/Plantersville, or Willis and drive into Conroe. I'm more of a country person.

Conroe and the surrounding countryside is a pretty decent place to live. However, fair warning 45 South of Conroe is a HUGE CLUSTERfrick! frick the woodlands, frick driving there, and frick any commute that takes you south from Conroe. I HATE frickING TRAFFIC!
