Any of you get the call that shows from a local phone number and it is a telemarketer saying that you stayed in their resort in the last year and you have been selected...blah blah blah?

They're getting worse and worse. I feel like its 1998 all over again.
Tons of illegal robocalls.

Daily. If a local number calls & doesn't leave a message, I'm blocking it. It doesn't stop anything, but it makes me feel a little better.

I don't answer any of them

Since it's a local number I always answer because I want to make sure it's not from my kids at school, etc. well this morning I answered their prompt questions and got through to a person, asked him for his number in case we got disconnected and he gave it to me. I am sick and tired of these calls almost daily, fee like I should do them the courtesy and post his callback number and let the OT go to work and bombard them...thoughts? Or does that get me banned from here?

I once posted the number of a KKK recruiter with no adverse effects.

If everyone one took them on 20 minute rides to waste their time it would become unprofitable and they'd quit that shite. If they catch me in the car they are destined to find out about my death by my "partner" who inherited his business and is definitely interested in that $200k credit line.

They come and go..I get about three calls a week and yes some have the area code and the first three digits of my number. But what is more wacky is a site called MYLIFE.COM. I occasionally enter my name in Google to see what's out there. This place had my old phone, my current address, image and family members. I tried to delete to no avail. They supplied a number to call. I called and got them to take my info down.

Yes. Sometimes three or four times a week.

Tried that with card services once & as soon as I asked for the # I was asked if I like giving BJ's
I was so stunned I just hung up
They know they can't be traced so they don't give a shite

I got a phone call yesterday from a local number.
Called it back because I was busy. Lady told me she didn't call me and hadn't called anyone recently.
Pretty weird though she seemed like a huge count saying I had the wrong number. Was on my cell so I just hit the missed the call to call back.

It's not really telemarketers - not to defend telemarketers, but all these unsolicited calls about your taxes, your car warranty, "Windows", lower your credit card and "free" trips - 100% scams. They're trying to either steal your information or get a fee out of you, between nominal amounts under $100 up to the thousands if they can get it.
None of them are legitimate. None of them.
None of them are legitimate. None of them.

now that they can spoof numbers it makes it too easy for them to circumvent the telemarketer laws. I even get calls "from myself" every once in a while.

Yes, they are getting very good. I haven't gotten one from myself yet, but numbers almost identical to mine.

They use my area code and first three numbers of my cell # to appear legit.
So I stopped answering calls that use that pattern, and rarely get them anymore.
