Anybody just get burned out and realize you are playing a zero sum game?
I'm at that point where I want to just walk away and say frick it. I'm 8 years in and some (very few) days I wonder why I even get up and go. How do you fight that feeling?

Bring on the down votes, pay, time off, and sex with students jokes

Serious responses are appreciated.

I once contemplated being an educator but then realized I would see what you see and only be there for a paycheck. That isn't worth a damn for me or the kids.

Go get a Masters of Educational Leadership online and become management. More pay and less actual teaching.

My wife was 6 years in and 3 years ago, in March.. She got fed up with it, got a job somewhere else and bounced.

It wasn't the kids, it was just dealing with the bullshite with the administration and no matter what they tried to implement it always went back to the same ole bullshite.

Are you a teacher in La? Try moving to a state that actually gives a crap about education. Texas would be a good start. I've known two teachers that moved here and it's night and day.

Switch schools if you can. Sometimes you get in a rut at the same place and need a change. Gut it out two more years and get fully vested first. Take a mental health day from time to time.

What does she do now? Is she happier?

Porthudson- We are thinking hard about moving out to the hill country in Tx by our hunting camp. We get offered jobs there every year when we go.

I don't think what you're experiencing is necessarily inherent to teaching.

I go through similar stages in my profession. Look into Stoicism.

I actually switch schools a lot. I'm the guy they send in to clean up messes.
