Spin off to the crossfit Baws.

Are you training or in Masters? Examples of your workouts? How much yardage you get a week/days of week in a pool?

I swim because I have metal screws, rods and plates in my body from a serious auto accident and I swam up to high school. So, low impact and I know it will kick my arse and I get to eat like shite without looking like a fat frick.

I am in a pool 6 days/week...at least 4000/swim...at least 24000/week. Workouts I get from Auroa Masters Swim Team out of Colorado (nice PDF file of 365 swim workouts they have on the net).

Curiously waiting to see the former college D1 swimmers laugh at my yardage.

Pshhh... None of us are college scrubs. The average OT Baller has at least 7 gold medals in swimming.

Trust me, they put in so much yardage that a 1000 is dedicated to their warmup sessions.

Yesterday my workout was

400 choice

8 x 50 4K/4s
8x 75 4s/4p

3 x 200 fr
3 x 100 bk/br
3 x 50 fl/bk

2x 200 fr
2x 100 fr
2x 50 fr

1 x 200 fr
1 x 100 bk/br
1x 50 fr

16x 25 choice 4 ez/4med/4 fast

200 warm down.

I'm a former high school swimmer. I'm in the pool 3 days a week. I alternate between trying to get in more yardage and supplementing the yardage with sprint work.

If I'm just doing yardage I'll go about 3000 but at a slower pace. If I'm adding in sprint work I'll do 50's on a 1 min interval and hundreds on about220. On days when I do sprint work I sometimes only go 2000 to 2400. It's a better workout even though less yardage.

I wish I was a sprinter. I am just glad I can complete a 500. To be honest, a set with 200 or lower works well for me. And I am staying away from paddles during my pull sets...my shoulders feel like shite in the middle of the night during my sleep.

After winning gold in Rio last summer I am still resting my body. Will be back in the pool in a couple months getting ready to break my world record in the next Olympics.

Not gonna lie. At first I thought yardage was some messican speak for yard work... Then I realized this is the OT, and no one on the OT does their own yard work.

I just started swimming bc Crossfit and a spartan race hurt my leg and foot. I do about 1600 meters of mostly freestyle with some breast and back mixed in. I usually aim to complete that in 40-50 min so it's a medium steady pace for me with no breaks longer than 30 seconds. Again, I just started swimming but I like the workout I get and I've definitely come to appreciate how hard my 9 year old works with his year round swim team.

LOL I hear ya. I would be totally gassed if I tried to keep up with them. When I first told him I was gonna swim in the other pool while he was swimming he said "dad there are actually plenty of elderly people that swim in the other pool while we practice." I was like what the hell man, I'm 34!

I do the same thing three days a week and have for about 15 years.

1000 yard free warm up
10 x 100 free on 2 minutes
20 × 100 IM on 2 minutes
500 yard cool down

In my 20s i did it in a minute and a half and when i was thirty on one minute 45.

I'm a former HS swimmer, I stopped for several years but got back into it (on days I don't do HIIT/strength) last summer as I was sick of running in the heat.

Was doing 3500-4K, then got knocked up again. Now I'm in the pool on non HIIT days because even brisk walking kills my hips. I'm drowning for approximately 2000 yards/swim like a dying walrus.

When I'm on the wagon, 3 days a week, roughly 6-7k per week.

Typically do something like 500 warm up, 20×50 on whatever I can handle at that time (50s-1min), then 500/400/300/200/100 building with 30 seconds rest between.

On days that I'm lazy (pretty much every time lately, I just swim straight for 1500 to 2500 yards.

When I was doing triathlon at ASU, maybe 3000-3500 3-4x per week. Had to focus on running and biking too.

Now? Maybe 2000 2x per week? Trying to get back up to 3000 2x a week. Got too much flab the past 2 years
