I like Superior on Government a lot.

Not as much as I like Lupe Tortilla in Houston though. Nothing can touch those fajitas. I wish they'd open a location in Baton Rouge.

I was always a Ninfa's fan myself. I never thought the price difference between Superior and Ninfa's was justified.

Granted I worked there for 5 years so I may be biased.

FYI: This will be a much nicer and a more overpriced superior. He is wanting this place to be one of the nicest restaurants in town - that's why it is taking so long. There is a lot of money along highland road in 70808 and there are zero nice restaurants. (French Market Bistro is way down there)

That doesn't really jive with Tex-Mex, live cover bands, and 2-for-1 margaritas.

I agree. But I think this one will be more like 2 piece band, craft cocktails, $30 entrees.

Interesting concept... not sure why they would mess with an established concept that undoubtedly will stay packed.

Their grilled section is better than most of what I've eaten in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico.

How bout you take a drive over to Don Jose's on Baton Rouge's own College Drive for better Grilled Tex-Mex than Superior Grill.

Superior Grill is good though. Just expensive.

It seems like they have been constructing the superior grill on highland for the better part of a decade. Does anybody have any idea when it's going to open?

It'll never be ready in time.

Most don't know this, but they serve one of, if not the best Chicken Fried Steak in town. Yes, at a Tex-Mex restaurant.

On that note, El Paso(Sherwood Forrest in BR) has one of the best tastin' burgers w/ awesome seasoned Fries for under $10. Bartender clued me in when she mentioned they cook it on the same grill as the fajita meats. Duh. Makes sense.

I'm still trying to figure out how they are going to handle parking. That lot is going to be packed at 5:00 for happy hour, the gym, and grocery shopping. Is there an overflow plan with the banks next door and across the street?

^^^ This! It is going to be a shite show. It is obviously zoned properly (several restaurants have been in that location) but Friday/Saturday evenings will not be fun for the other tenants.
