One of the ladies in my office just came up to another girl and had a quick, hushed conversation, handed her a couple pieces of paper and then walked away quickly.

Female B(who was handed the papers) comes up to my station shortly after and tells me that Girl A asked her to sign a waiver which allows her and her partner to be married within 72 hours; Girl A must also come up with an explanation on the waiver for why it should be granted.

These two don't know each other very well (Girl B had to actually ask what Girl A's name was when she told me about it).

Anyone had something like this done?

Don't get mixed up in that. You're gonna regret it.

That's why it doesn't make sense.

And why would some random coworker's signature have any bearing on it?

This doesn't make sense. What does girl B have to do with girl A's ambition to be married?

Sounds like you work in a Trashy place. I'd leave it alone.

csb...a co-worker I didn't know that well asked me to go to lunch one day. Meanwhile he stops by his house on the way back to pick up some things. Apparently he was going thru a divorce and had to have a witness with him anytime he was at the house. I waited in the car and some lady (his wife) came out screaming at me wanting answers about some chick at the office and if they were sleeping together. Most awkward situation I'd ever been in. A few days later I got questioned by police because he apparently took some things he wasn't supposed to take.

Lesson learned: stay out of other peoples domestic issues.

None of that makes sense. But you should definitely get involved and offer any support you can. Getting involved in co-workers personal lives always pays off with a more team-oriented work environment.

No idea, that's why I thought it was strange. I didn't know you had to have any kind of waiver signed to begin with though.

I've already offered to exercise the rite of prima nocta, not sure what else would be expected of me.
