UPDATE 8/24/15 1 PM. Suspect may have killed his roommate prior to shooting the trooper.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is working a homicide in the 1400 block of Holly Vale Road in Moss Bluff that may have a connection to the man accused of killing a state trooper Sunday afternoon, Sheriff Tony Mancuso said.
The deceased male was a roommate of Kevin Daigle, Mancuso said. Daigle is accused of killing State Trooper Steven Vincent during a traffic incident near Bell City. Vincent was shot Sunday afternoon and died Monday morning.
Mancuso said the Sheriff's Office began investigating after the man who lives at the home did not report for work this morning.
"We came here, we did a welfare check and we did find him deceased," Mancuso said. "We are working it as a homicide."
KPLC is headed to the scene and will have more information as it develops.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. KPLC will broadcast the news conference on-air and through livestream.

UPDATE via LSP Facebook
Death of S/T Steven Vincent
I am very saddened to report that Senior Steven Vincent has passed away this morning from the gunshot wounds he suffered yesterday in conjunction with a traffic investigation. As an organization, we are heartbroken over this senseless and tragic death. Our thoughts and prayers are with his surviving wife Katherine and his son Ethan as well as his entire extended family. ( Brothers, Tpr. Terrell Vincent and Chief Keith Vincent) Steven was proud to serve as a Louisiana State Trooper and we were proud to count him among our ranks. This loss exacts an enormous emotional toll on the State Police family, but we will do what is necessary and proper to honor Steve and support those who knew and loved him. He will be missed but never forgotten. Prayers.
Colonel Michael D. Edmonson
UPDATE 9pm via Col. Edmonson's press conference:
Trooper was shot with a sawed-off shotgun by a man who had ran his truck off in a ditch. Trooper is in critical condition. Subject was arrested after two citizens wrestled the shooter to the ground. Dashcam captured the altercation. Callers had told LSP the truck was seen swerving erratically prior to the shooting.
LSP Sgt. James Anderson also identified the 13-year State Police veteran as the brother of Iowa Police Chief Keith Vincent. Trooper Vincent also has a second brother on the Louisiana State Police force.

You're being a little premature here. It sounds like anyone that got in his way was at risk.

Ballsy on their part.

Prays sent to the trooper and his family.

Except the non-cops that got in his way and apprehended him after he already shot a cop.

I know the trooper and the family. It was 3 rounds to the head. He's got a wife and a son. No word yet on his status. If you're the praying kind...now would be a good time.
