How can Louisiana raise the education standards and improve the quality of education for students?

Suggestions from the brightest around the country?

Not totally sure, but I think we might be the only country in the world that spends the least amount of money on education for the poorest populations.

For kids with shitty families, we add in shitty schools. That's not a great system.

Nothing will improve until you correct the family problems with the people here. Too many people don’t get involved or care about their kids (enough).

All the education reform/initiatives in the world won’t matter if the parents don’t care.

It all centers around the family and kids being raised in poor, single parent homes.

Get parents to care.

Good luck with that. The white trash in trailers are too busy scoring meth, and the inner city garbage is too busy shooting each other to care.

-Stop busing kids to schools across town
-Get back to neighborhood schools
-Stop encouraging fatherless households
-Remove standardized testing, homework, etc for Elementary schools.

Higher pay for teachers

Quit letting every Tom Dick and Harry teach with a general studies degree.

Hold teachers accountable for failing students

The schools aren't the problem. Parents not helping/making them study is the problem. Bad parents not giving a shite about their kids education is the problem. Parents looking at school as a form of daycare is the problem. Parents thinking it's the teachers job to make sure their kids learn is the problem. In short, shitty parents are the problem.

Who cares about the "state of education in Louisiana"? Thats just based on averages. Why would i care if most kids are dumb and most schools are shite. If my kid is smart and their school is good?

Do the same for MD Anderson with their patients that die. See how stupid that is? A great facility for cancer patients yet they still lose many. Why are schools to blame? We do more now than ever for students.

You don't... You avoid it all together and count your blessings, literally every day.

Reading. The amount of kids I've come across at the high school level that can't read at a 7th grade level is alarming.

more teachers
higher salaries
smaller classes
learning based environments vs test taking environments
getting parents to care ... yeah, i don't know how either.

just more funding, period.
