What's the consensus among the BR/Nola people on these brands? Who has the "best" cup? I have to say, I know SB is the big dog, but I'm not super high on a cup of their black coffee.

SB by a mile for me. I like the dark roast stuff that has an almost bunt flavor:
Fck PJ's and CC's bland brown water coffee. And their employees are usually slow as shite.
There are better local places than CCs and PJs.

PJs for me.

With an occasional trip to Puccino's since it's close to my place.

Starbucks is burnt nasty coffee. I always enjoy PJs when I go back and visit but it is no Puccino's.

Hard to beat a cup of fresh brewed Pikes Place Roast from Sbux

Community Coffee is like drinking water.

Only had PJ's once or twice like 10-12 years ago when there was one on coursey. i don't remember liking or disliking it.

I prefer CC's.

My ranking of the coffee chains in the area are as follows:

1. CC's
2. Starbucks
3. PJ's

I don't think any of them are necessarily bad. CC's and Starbucks certainly have the most convenient locations around me.

Starbucks vs. CC's vs PJ's

Since leaving Baton Rouge, I miss my Café au lait and Morning Glory muffin at Coffee Call more than CC's or PJ's.

That being said, my preference between the three in the OP was always the CC's on Jefferson across from Churchill's. They are in a good location with a lot of lunch spots within walking distance. Lots of tables and it was ideal for studying if you are a grad student. It was far enough away from LSU so that it wasn't flooded with undergrads regularly, and at the time the LSU med students that do their 3rd and 4th years at OLOL typically hung out at the one on Perkins and Bluebonnet. Their drive through also cut down on the foot traffic.

I've been wanting to try this place. Drove right by it a month ago on Government Street and completely forgot about it. I'll have to check it out next time I am in town.

How does Brew Ha Ha rank?

Supposedly Starbucks uses the proper amount of expresso for their drinks and roasts their beans at high temperatures which makes them more bitter.

They have this super fancy water filtration system in the back of the store which is wasted because the coffee is so bitter.
