Of course it happened on Friday night so I cannot get a guy out until Monday. I had no idea how heavy that thing is but is there any way to work around it until it gets repaired? Fortunately both cars were out when it happened but I'd like to be able to open it to do yard work

Wait for a pro. Those springs will kill you quick fast and in a hurry.

The excersise will do you good.

Not insulated but it slammed down hard when I lifted it so I'm trying to be careful not to damage it

Just suck it up and wait

That spring is not a DIY project

Sucks but you have to wait. Also not cheap.

Easy to fix if you know what you are doing. Not so much, and very dangerous if you identify as a woman.

Happened to me several weeks ago. I had no idea how heavy insulated garage doors were and the force required to push it open manually without the spring helping.

It happened whilst closed so I just left the thing shut.

Replaced mine in about 30 minutes after watching a youtube video. $120 for parts. It's not difficult or life threatening.

If you got the new spring, winders, ladder, and a few hand tools, it's not bad to replace. I replaced mine a few months ago. Replace both of them.

You only have 1 garage door?

Set up a gofundme.

Garage door is heavy as hell without the spring assist....I wouldn't even mess with it until a professional gets there. the guy that replaced mine tells me that you typically get 10 - 15 years out of garage springs. I would go ahead and replace both springs while you are paying the service call.

It's not that hard to replace yourself.

Hire a professional to fix it.

That is all.

It's not that dangerous if you have 1/2 a brain. Did 3 springs last year after 1 of mine broke. Went ahead and swapped them all out. When to overhead door on industrialplex bought the springs and tension rods. Took all of 30 mins. Never 1 time felt in danger.

Happened to me a year ago. I detached the door from the chain and was able to manually pull the door up to get stuff out.

When you have it fixed, pay the extra money to do the dual spring. That way when it pops again it's still functional.
