Did you find God?

Are you gonna quit smoking now?

He made all that happen because you smoke, and touch yourself. You know that, right?

It's the greyhound equivalent of an airline what'd you expect?

They charge you for arse and gas, nothing else. Great if you're trying to save money.

Flying out of Tampa back to New Orleans yesterday I thought our pilot was trying to emulate a space shuttle launch. Wheels left the ground and it felt like we damn near went vertical. Fastest I've ever reached cruising altitude

Has turbulence ever actually brought down a commercial jet in the US before?

Wind shear took down Delta Flight 191.

Close enough. Wind shear is an aggressive form of turbulence.

Also Pan Am 759 which crashed in Kenner (same cause)

They design jets with automated shear warning systems now. They didnt have that during the Pan Am flight you're referring to.

If you book a flight and see an old MD88 or Boeing 727 or some shite like that prepare for a rough ride.

You haven't been on a smooth flight till you've boarded one of the new AB A320's

Carbon Fiber wings flex like crazy and take alot of the shock associated with turbulence out.

I've had my life flash in front of my eyes a couple times.

Once was in boot when they said we were deploying to South Korea immediately.

worst turbulence ive ever had was my last flight from Lafayette to Houston. was only 40 minutes but we couldn't get out of the clouds the whole way there. I hit my head up top 4 times. i could tell the pilots were trying to find some clear skies but just couldn't bc of the short duration of the flight.

Turbulence is usually associated with up and down drafts, usually in clouds or storms but can be clear air turbulence. Think of it as ripples or waves in the ocean. Wind shear is a violent down draft of air that can push a plane down so fast that the pilot can't correct for it. It associated with violent thunderstorms. If you remember, that's what took down the flight in New Orleans years ago. Modern jets have warning systems built into their avionics that help avoid them. Rest easy, turbulence won't take down a plane, and you won't encounter any wind shear.

Landing in bad weather is way scarier IMO.

The past few times I've flown into MSY have been during thunderstorms. The Charlotte-MSY flight landed on runway 28/10 (the east/west one) perpendicular to the runway since I guess the winds were out of the north? The last hour of that flight I thought we were going down.

The more fun flights are landing during t-storms on the north/south runway since you've gotta fly over the lake and can see all the storms around. Think they had closed the causeway down during one of those landings

ETA: Don't fly spirit
