As a white male, with a job, living in East Baton Rouge Parish (close to downtown), how can the mayor negatively or positively affect my life over the next 4 years?

The mayor can be a big help if she spends our money wisely, doesn't raise our taxes, promotes programs and projects that provides prosperity.
If she keeps law and order, does a good job in providing services, and does her job well.
If she wastes our money, raises taxes an inordinate amount, promotes one group over another, lets services decline and fails to keep order then we are screwed.

Have you read her transition team's proposals? The amount of money they'd require to implement half of the programs would bankrupt the city
