Plenty of places in California actually... Stockton, Barstow and much of the Inland Empire and Central Valley come to mind.
The Texas Panhandle and pretty much every border town... Pretty much all of west Texas too. I know Texas gets a lot of hate, but they're doing a lot of shite right. I really love Austin and the Hill Country. It's a desirable state for me, YMMV.
Most of Wyoming is nowhere near as nice as the NW corner (Jackson, Grand Teton, Yellowstone).
