Jackson Hole, Taos, Jerome, AZ, one of the small towns on the central coast of CA. Seattle if it had to be a big city.

We just moved from New Orleans.

Much higher pay and public schools you can use, even in the middle of the city.

At my current point in life/career I'd need a place with good job prospects...

Nashville
Houston
Charlotte

I think those would be the top 3.

My wife nixed Denver due to lack of sufficient "pool weather" time.

I'm going to start charting how long she's actually outside this summer.

Denver. I had Bend, Oregon brought to my attention and would love to live there.

I think Denver has something like 300 days of sunshine every year. I've only been during great weather, though. I can't vouch for winters there.

ETA: Denver is on our shortlist, but we will probably actually end up staying in New Orleans for a few more years at least. We still have about a year to a year and a half to decide, though.
