I have a few friends that use(d) it. Some thought it was worth it, some not. I am in my mid-50's and in good health (go to the Doctor maybe every 5-6 years and get a physical once ever 2-4 years).

Not sure I see the value in paying $1500+ per year then they also bill my insurance. One of my doctor buddies that is a specialist said you go to them then they end up farming you out to a specialist anyway.

Feedback would be appreciated.

YES!

It's the only way to go. IMO.

ETA: No bullshite waiting around, making appointments, etc, etc. I text my doctor anytime of the day 24 hrs a day. She will respond and answer my questions, call in a script, etc.

i did it, but I dind't pay $1500 for it. I went once and had to wait 15-20 minutes and didn't go back. they swore it was an anomaly.

If you need to go to the hospital will he/she be your admitting doctor?

I doubt it. I am not sure though. If you need any testing you will be sent out.

If you have a ton of questions and want your hand held it may be worth it. But it sounds like u don't so I would think hard before switching to one.

My doctor is my admitting doctor. She also does all of my testing.

And she "rounds" on you? She is who sees you while admitted? Unless of course there is a consult etc.?

If so then it sounds like it may be worth it.

Also with concierge medicine, is your lab covered in the fee or X-ray? Meaning if she orders lab work is it done there and "free"? Since you already pay the high up front fee?

Looks like fees/services/charges vary by state due to competition. Here is what I have been told by those using a specific group in Baton Rouge.

Admits you = no

Rounds if in hospital = no

XRay/Labs = submit to insurance and think you pay the difference

Annual Physical = included with standard chem panel

Text/Cell Phone direct with Dr = yes (but they swap call)

Price = I think $1500 per year (maybe more now)

The fee is like a membership fee. For services she does not do, x-ray being one for example, she will make an appointment for me where I can use my insurance.

Otherwise I pay cash and file with my insurance for reimbursement. I have never been declined reimbursement through my insurance.

My fee to her is $1000 a year. I can call her, text her, whatever for anything and usually she'll write a script and save me the trouble of coming in. (flu, allergy, etc)

I use that Type of provider. It's a matter of convenience. I travel a decent amount and like always being able to reach my physician. I get annual physical and long term year over year health trend results.

It's a noticeable amount of money, but I spend more each year on; LSU tickets, flights , beer, golf etc. I figure it would be short sighted to spend on other unnecessary items and not spend some on my health.

I'm in the home health business and from what i've seen, it's only worth it if you have health issues that cause frequent trips to the doctor. On the other hand, (my opinion), you are paying doctors extra for the service they should be providing in the first place
