How does one become a moderator? Are these people hired by TD, good friends of the owner(s), posters with a stellar posting record, or something else?

Has anyone ever lost a moderator's position?

How time-consuming is a moderator's work? I assume it is very time-consuming during and after an LSU loss.

What do the various moderators due for a living?

I've been on some sites with poor moderation. Good moderators (even though every moderator here has given me shite at some point) make a site better.

Chicken has to rape you for a week to see if you're worthy.

I personally know an admin. He's the one who usually gets me out of trouble when I frick up.

He's a derelict who coached me in high school until his parole officer found out and said he could no longer be around impressionable teenagers.

Also, I once was in his Crown Vic when it hit 90,000 miles.

There are clearly benefits. You get to see the LLotOT nude pictures before they are deleted.

One of my buddies used to be a mod. He was struggling to make ends meet and obviously mods make serious coin so he figured why not? I don't think he was prepared for what chicken asked him to do. Started to weigh on his conscience after a while so he told the cluckster he wanted out. We found his body in the lake 2 weeks later. "boating accident"

Not by riding trains.

Neither Fred nor Rummy are stellar posters or something else and I can't imagine they have friends. Also, Rummel sucks. So does Fred Flintstone.

Kidding. I love you guys. In a totally gay way.

real answer you are approached via PM.

Asked if you can "help" on certain boards. Then given access to an admin panel.

You will notice slight changes in a poster's habits once being elevated to admin. Though it's SOP to not outwardly reveal you are an admin.

They have had admins stripped of their powers before

A lot are in the O&G field, want to test that, talk bad about O&G.

The system here works well, I think people would be more restrained if they knew when they were talking to a mod.

there was a "corporate secrets" thread linked here from reddit a few years ago. after it got some traction, a TD whistle blower posted in the reddit thread

https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/o-t-lounge/corporate-secrets---one-of-the-most-interesting-things-ive-ever-read/37848513/

quote:

I worked as an admin on the Tigerdroppings website for a short stint. Being a regular visitor for years, I dreamt of holding unyielding power and commanding the type of respect from other posters that comes with such a promotion. Boy was I wrong.

Turns out, you work for free, and on top of that, you have to pay the website owner for the "privilege" of being an admin. It's nothing short of slave labor, and for what? Access to the classics board? The ability to private message female posters? No thanks, I'm happily married with 2 kids. But that didn't stop other admin. Private message affairs with posters, harassment, pic trading, flirting, and dirty talk was rampant. I guess for some guys that's just one of the perks of the job.

Being forced to help out in Tiger Rant after an LSU loss should be punishment for committing a violent crime.
