Im home today and watched it.

Here she is losing her shite over winning a $120k car

LINK

Won it playing Spelling Bee - won it by picking her boyfriend's birthday. 28. One of the hardest games. Statistically, you have no better than around a 4% chance of actually winning.

Cali has some strong rules on that. you can't claim it until you pay taxes, and can't get ownership until you claim it

so she's going to have to get a serious loan shark type loan to ever get that car (to sell to pay off the loan shark)

I think it's taxed at 39%. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

I read an article not too long ago that when people "win" cars they really just win a 2-3 year lease that is paid for.

Not sure if this is one of those instances

To be fair, if one is going to lose their shite, winning a $120K car is a pretty damn good reason to do so.

They offered her $25,000 not to play for the car. No lie, I would have taken the cash.

But then she won on her first pick.

You have to pay tax on that. She will have to sell it for sure to pay the tax if she is even able to claim it. I'm not sure if they let you sell it before paying the tax.

That's almost cruel considering the tax on it.

"Congrats! You just won a car that you'll never be able to get!!!"

And then she'll likely have to pay the tax on the profit she makes by selling it. I guess I don't know for sure in CA, but I'd bet that's the case.
