a while back a tow truck dropped off this rusty beat up pickup truck in their drive way and it's been sitting there for about a month or so. It's an eyesore to our community and I feel like it's hurting my property value. Should I call the HOA and have them learn the rules of the land the hard way?

Walk next door and talk to neighbor first.

Maybe it's a classic. They are going to restore it. It will bring up property values with all that's shiney classic pride.

I would call the HOA. If that doesn't work set it on fire.

You can either be the a-hole who walks nextdoor and calls the dude out about his broken down vehicle in the driveway, or you can be the pussy who tattles on him. Neither is good IMO.

Why not contact the homeowner?

Can't. Homeowner is in the military and out of the country, but I'm sure the HOA is able to.

Yeah pretty much this.

Thing is, if they're renters they probably haven't even seen the HOA covenants. So you'd be either going over there telling them they're breaking a rule that they didn't know existed or you'd be having the HOA do it.

If they seem like decent people, being them some brownies over and then mention it to them.

You really want to hassle a soldier serving out of country for leaving his pickup in his driveway in view of the street?

Besides, you apparently live in Hammond, get over yourself.

Don't worry, your property value isn't hurt one bit.

Obviously, you are not a homeowner that gives a shite about the value of homes in your neighborhood.

Contact the HOA and be done with it. You can protect the value of your home without having the neighbor pissed at you. You never know who is moving in next door so no need to stir up a hornet's nest if you don't have to. This is what the HOA is for.

Apparently, it belongs to the deployed soldier's tenants.

You're stupid to live in a neighborhood with an hoa if you would hesitate to call for something like this.

I don't have the time or patience to explain to someone that they are making the neighborhood look trashy and breaking a rule. I pay my hoa to handle that shite. It's not "tattling" in grown up land.
