What about calling people retards? They were retarded 20 years ago. Why do I need to use some special medical term now to say the same thing. Do the SJWs not know what it means? Does it suddenly make them less retarded if I call them something different?

you gave little context, but from what you said, I don't see that as relevant to the story to point out they were Mexican. It's certainly not racist though, but the term "Mexican" can and certainly is used as derogatory at times.

If their nationality were relevant to the story, it would make more sense but it doesn't seem like it was. A similar example, my in-laws took my twin 3 year olds to Disney world last year and they were telling me how much fun they had and talking in front of my boys and to my boys about how they were dancing with the black lady that worked there. My mother in law was mad and couldn't understand why I thought there was anything wrong with saying that in front of my boys. Point is, if the lady was white, she'd never say "the white lady", it would just be "the lady". It's certainly not racist, but I also don't want my boys in an environment where we have to point out that any person is non-white even when it's totally irrelevant to the situation.
