quote:

"MRA" means "men's rights activist."

An MRA is a white man who insists against all evidence and decency that white men are oppressed and than women and minorities are "revered and privileged."

An MRA would never support the rights of those men who truly are at a disadvantage in our society: homosexual and black men. Instead, he leaves campaigning for LGBT rights and minorities' rights to the "evil evil count bull dykes" aka feminists.

An MRA sits on a huge pile of white and male privilege and keeps whining that he is oppressed.
An MRA loves Pat Robertson and Bill O'Reilly, thinks that Fox news is the one and only reliable delivery mechanism for news, is a psychotic bible thumper who believes that women were made from "Adam's rib," wanks to Rush Limbaugh, supports the religious right, and has never finished high school.

I don't even where to start with this. O'Reilly, Fox News, Limbaugh, and religion all in sentence. Sure is an feminist.

All I know is that white males under the age of 40 are not a protected class in the workplace. The same cannot be said for women and minorities.

some concepts of the MRA movement are valid, like the slanted legal system of divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, etc

some MRA groups/speakers devolve to full blown misogyny, though

but of course, this argument is completely without logic or merit

I've always thought it stood for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, home of the Patriots. Who knew.

This is a gross misrepresentation. I always thought Men's Rights was mostly about fair and honest custody rights, which I agree with. I certainly don't agree with all the things listed here.

i think that's where it started. it goes beyond just that, though, into loon town

that famous video of hte red-haired super bitch feminist involves her group busting up an MRA conference, but she does agree with some parts of the MRA platform (but they get there in vastly different ways)

Sounds like a giant circle jerk.

It also sounds like something a Fox News think tank would come up with.

Seems these people that worry about FOX and RUSH are all getting their bullshite from the same source. In other words, they are what they preach against.

Ad hominem. Be more specific.

I'd consider myself a MRA. Of course, I have eyeballs and I keep up with current events a little. This is something I wrote on another board I frequent...If these things don't matter to you, fine. If they DO matter to you, you would want things to change. How do they change? Advocating for men's rights.

A few issues that have stuck with me over the past couple of years when I've been paying attention:

Men represent the vast majority of the homeless in this country, yet homeless shelters very rarely ALLOW men. Only women and children.

No/Almost no domestic violence shelters for male victims of DV (40% of victims are men and females are known to be instigators in most DV situations).

Women are sentenced to something like 60% less prison time than men are for the exact same crime.

Men commit suicide something like 4-5x's as often as women. No public cries for better mental health support for men, are there? The President of the US gets up on national TV and whines about a false wage gap...real important stuff. Women's money > man's suicide.

Repeated attempts to lure women into STEM fields, yet none to lure men into nursing/teaching. You know, because lopsided gender concentration in certain fields is only terrible when it's women who are missing from the equation.

STILL no requirement for women to register for selective service on their 18th birthday...A scenario which would leave men ineligible for numerous federal programs including financial aid. Not to mention the loss of your voting rights.

Less federal funding for health issues that primarily impact men.

Women are the presumed "victim" any time a call is made to police (Duluth Model). Doesn't matter if she started it and assaulted you (which has been repeatedly proven that women instigate the majority of domestic abuse), cops will place you in handcuffs as being the bigger threat and take you to jail.

Women gain custody in 85% of child custody hearings.

And now the "yes means yes" bullshite that is being funneled down by the DoE, which will make it highly likely that numerous young men will face lifelong consequences based solely on the word of one person who will ALWAYS be above reproach because vagina.

Boys and men have fallen DRASTICALLY behind women in education. Studies point out that female teachers are prone to bias against boys (which leads to overly drugged children because women don't understand boys' need for rough housing or playing cowboys and indians, so they suggest adderall). Cycle manifests throughout their lives, as women are increasingly becoming the vast majority of college enrollees and graduates (of course, there are no efforts to encourage improving the male condition here). Women are the only ones with Title IX protections, seemingly. Despite their completely verified superior performance and trajectory, they continue to be the ones getting "women's only scholarships" and STEM encouragement grants, etc.

A boy who was raped as a 13 year old was ordered to pay CHILD SUPPORT to his convicted rapist, and that's happened on multiple occasions.

Does any of that sound "loony?"

John,

You would know better than most. Tell me about your grossly lopsided custody trial with Holly. How did it feel when she took your kids away from you?
