Feeling pretty damn good right now thanks to the pain meds
Two questions: how long did you cough up blood for and how long/bad were the nose bleeds? I woulda asked the doc but I rather ask pple who's been through it. Oh and apparently I told the nurse I wanted to bone her. Good times.

Septum surgery? I had 6 months of some of the most kickass boogers I've ever seen.

Had a really bad deviated septum and full blockage in both cavities under my eyes. My fault tho. Waited two years to do something. Have never been want to go to the doctor.

I had it done, twice. For me it was the worst 2 weeks of my life. They pack you up w sooo much gauze, you won't be able to breathe out of your nose for 7-10 days. I couldn't sleep.
You will start to blow chunks of bloody gauze out of your nose for at least 7 days. You'll spit them up too as you rinse with salt water. It's fricking gross. I remember I spit up a juicy blot clot about the size of a silver dollar.
Other than that, good luck.

First 2-3 days suck. The next 2 weeks, you'll just be really sore. The non-stop blood and bandages last for about 3 days though.

I have to wear a suit for my job. I'm guessing I'll need a whole new set of shirts and ties when this is all said and done
Oh and lafayette specialty hospital. Ask for amber to be your nurse

FIFY, but my septum was fricked. Broke my nose when I was about 12 and didn't get it fixed til I was almost 30 and was getting a few sinus infectio s per month and could only breathe out of one nostril.

I was born with it. Haven't been able to sleep on my left side for two years and I just started getting more and more tired with more and more headaches and pressure so that's when I went to the specialist

Once you've healed, you're quality of life is going to be sooooo much better. Being able to breathe through both nostrils is taken for granted.
I was back at work after a few days. You just can't do any stressful activities or lifting for a while.
Worst part for me was having to sleep upright.

Damn, I'm starting to wonder if I should look into this surgery... Most of the time I can't breathe out of my nose, and when I can, it's only out of one nostril...
I rarely get sick, I just always seem to fight allergy/sinus problems

I've had surgery for a deviated septum and turbinate reduction twice.
Was laid up for a week I guess.

I always thought it was allergies so I treated it for that. Boy was I wrong. Don't go to your family doc. Go directly to ent first.

glad you are done with that part, man...I understand the next hurdle is when they pull the packing out of your nostrils...after that, you are better than new....

About a year ago, my wife had a septoplasty, turbinate reduction, and nasal polyp removal. The first 24-48 hours involved changing out gauze taped under her nose as it became soaked in blood. Yummy. She had to sleep with her head elevated. She just used the recliner.
Another two days of taking it easy, not straining at all, continuing to sleep on the recliner, taking her pills. She had absolutely zero ability to breathe through her nose during this time. None at all. Then, after 4 days, she went back to the doctor so that they could remove the packing in her sinus cavities and the big plastic splints that were in place to help her septoplasty heal.
After that, my wife started regaining the ability to breathe through her nose over the next few days as she used a prescribed medicated rinse to use twice daily. The doctor stressed that the rinse was of the utmost importance.
She only took her Lortabs for 4 days. She had the surgery on a Tuesday, got the splints out that Friday, and was mostly back to her usual routine. Driving, shopping, cooking, etc. She still had to be extremely careful with her nose. Couldn't touch it much for a week or so, and definitely couldn't bump/hit it without severe pain.
She just had a C-section 3 weeks ago, and she said she'd take the sinus surgery any day of the week.
