After suffering through crappy breathing for 20+ years, I finally decided last month to pull the trigger to correct my severely deviated septum.

...and hey, Doc, while you are in there, can you kinda file down that little bump on my downslope and give me the "Clooney"?

I have not been put under general anesthesia in over 35 years...wow, I don't even remember talking to my wife before even being carted off to surgery room

I will say this...I went in at 6:30 this morning and 15 hours later still feel like Mike Tyson hit me square in the nose about 10 times. This crap is no walk in the park. My face is totally swollen and black'n'blue. Cast will be on 7 days.

Looks like I will get a good bit of listening time in front of the audio rig this week--can't really go anywhere--I'll scare little kids

It's okay man, you dont have to lie here. It's not okay that your wife beats you.

I had a septum deviation and turbinate reduction surgey back during the summer. I hate to break it to you but you are in for 2 weeks of misery and a slow recovery. However, after 6 weeks and everything is all healed up you will feel like a new man.

FWIW my dad had surgery for this about 20 years ago and although the recovery was challenging it improved his life enormously.

About 4-5 days from now they will pull the biggest blood clot you've ever seen from your nose. It'll all be good.

That looks rough. Had my septum broken and straightened and was back to work the next day. No rhinoplasty.

You have what appears to be a wistful, gauzy blue smile in the picture.

Like the smoke from a distant fire.

Speedy recovery to you!

I believe you. The real bummer is that I can't breathe through my nose as it is full of dried up blood and such, but I can't blow it out either--I feel like it is just piling up down my nasal cavity

Yes...completely. The deviation of the Septum was pretty drastic. Over the years my insurance has covered an inordinate amount of prescription meds for nose, breathing, and sinus infections. I believe this is actually a cheaper alternative after a few years.

Thanks! I need to look into this. I've had the same problems my whole life, compounded by breaking it twice.
