So, I didn't wait 15 minutes to start my new grill...

it was more like 5 minutes after starting that I put the meat on it. Something didn't seem right and it looked as if the paint from the griddle was burning onto the chicken.
Any one else make this same dumb mistake and what did you do?

If you have to ask this question I am afraid you have much bigger problems in life than a little paint burned onto your chicken.

Volunteer to cook for a larger amount of people next time. That should fix it.

The reason they suggest 15 minutes is to get the greases and residue from the manufacturing process burnt off.
