Sheriffs completely control work-release programs.
Something happened in this case to where the woman was found guilty but without hard labor which allowed her to stay at the local prison and not be sent to a DOC prison. Something fishy as hell is going on here with the whole system over there and it looks to me like the judge,prosecuting attorney,DA,and sheriff are all involved somehow.
There are much more hardened and dangerous criminals working outside of prisons everyday.
They have to show good behavior,show that they aren't a flight risk and generally have to be in the system for quite some time before they are ever considered for "Trustee" status.
This is a complete non-story.
I think this is quite the intriguing story.
