Around South LA (BR and NO in particular) which offers the best value for your dollar? I see older threads about these gyms but they are a bit dated.

I had a snap membership a few years back. Was traveling a lot for work and it was nice to be able to use any gym. But overall, the gyms weren't the greatest. Limited amount of equipment for the amount of people there during busy hours. Also turned into a pain to cancel, but that may have been an isolated inceident.

They aren't bad for the cost, but I've found better for less (company discount helped)

160? How short are you?

I belong to Snap. I once had a membership at Anytime. I prefer Snap. It is more affordable. It has no contracts. There is more equipment. Now I have only been to my home gym for both companies, so my comparison has a narrow scope.

5'11"

That sounds good. I know there's a Snap off Jefferson close to Highland in BR.

Never been to snap. As far as Anytime goes, it really just depends which one you go to. My brother and I have a membership, we pay $65 combined per month. It's a pretty good deal, but it's certainly not the greatest Anytime I've been to. The one on Highland was probably double the price but also a much bigger and better facility. But in general, I've always been pretty satisfied, and being able to go to any location at any time is really convenient.

I think my work discount got me like 49 bucks a month at snap (this was 5 years ago, so I'm not positive). I worked out in Lafayette, Mississippi, Dallas, and Houston, so I was all over. Never in your area.

I pay like 29 now for a much nicer gym (bigger, lap pool, basketball courts, racquetball, etc.) But that is in Houston.

Not sure your location but all I've had to do is email the location I set my membership up at to cancel.

SNAP (Metry)

Plenty of machines and there is an open room for classes that is set up for abs, chin-ups, etc, but its small with no bench or squat rack. Really clean gym. $30 a month. (First month was $15 when I signed up). 6/10

SNAP (Lakeview)

Bigger than Metry, has bench and squat rack. Many fine ladies here. 8/10

French Riviera (Metry)

Where New Iberia and the Jersey Shore join forces. The place is huge, as are the patrons there... lots of juice monkeys in there. Has 3 benches, 3 inclines, 3 squat racks, 2-3 sets of most dumbells. Has water beds, sauna, Jacobs ladder, smoothie shop. The price is advertised as $15/month. But there is a $40 quarterly "gym cleanup fee" and you have to give 2 months notice to break your membership or pay $75. 9/10

Anytime (Metry)
Small, Has B&S racks, really isn't packed even at peak hours. $45 a month I want to say but I have a deal through my company and only pay $30 so Im not certain on that. 7/10

Anytime (Lakeview)

Much bigger. Has B&S racks. Two dumbell areas. Smoothie King next door. 8.5/10
