Smoking with kids in the car

This was brought up around the coffee pot and whats the OT thoughts. Is smoking a cig while driving kids in the car child neglect/abuse? How about when walking up to a store, cig in one hand and a toddler in the other?
The other day I saw a man smoking a cig and carrying his 12 month hold around.
thoughts?

Louisiana
The law (La. Rev. Stat. § 32:300.4) bars smoking in a motor vehicle where there are children under 13, regardless of whether the windows are rolled up. The law applies to cars, passenger vans, and pick-up trucks. Violators are subject to a fine of up to $150 or, at the judge's discretion, at least 24 hours of community service. Violation of this provision is considered a primary offense, which means a law enforcement officer may stop a motor vehicle solely because of a violation. But a law enforcement officer may not stop or inspect a motor vehicle, its contents, the driver, or a passenger solely because of a violation of this provision. A violation is a nonmoving violation, and a citation issued by a law enforcement officer is not included on the driver's operating record. The law took effect on August 15, 2006.

Pussification of America strikes again. Momma smoked inside the car and the house and she is anything but trashy. Different times though.

Smoking is trashy. With kids, without kids, inside, outside, alone, and at all. all retarded and trashy.

This thread has everything
1) MSU fan
2) job where people congregate around a pot of coffee
3) confusion about whether smoking with children in the car is bad

It's trashy, smelly and unhealthy as hell, unless you're trailer trash. Then you're depressed and looking for ways to cope with your personal failure life.

As long as he wasn't exhaling directly into the kid's face, or holding the cigarette in the same hand as he was holding the kid, I don't see the problem.

The confusion on the smoking part was between two co-workers. One Auburn the other Bama. They could just be arguing to argue but who knows. And the coffee pot/keriug is in our office. So we get foot traffic to use it.

I wouldn't smoke around my kid but this is just the worst kind of busy-body notion.

No. No you didn't, no they didn't, and no you haven't.

Meh. The whole 2nd hand smoking thing is blown out of proportion. Kid will be fine unless he's a pussy.

All you anti smoking Nazis make me want to keep smoking even though I know I should quit.

One of these threads should be stickied so the anti smoking nazis can have a place to post their anti smoking rants on a daily basis.
