Smoking still legal in Alabama restaurants?

We stopped to eat just outside of Mobile today and there was a smoking section in the restaurant. This was the first time I'd seen that in a long time. Is this legal in all of Alabama or just some parts?

Some restaurants and bars are grandfathered in.

I love that slight aroma of stale cigarette smoke in the air when I'm dining out. Smells like freedom.

One of the dumbest laws ever. I don't smoke, but if I own a restaurant and want to allow customers to smoke, it should be my business.

I think it is governed by individual cities

Also gotta love those yellow walls, even if they were painted white 20 years ago.

You could probably still smoke in the NICU of Alabama hospitals as long as it's your baby.

Didnt realize there were still restaurants out there that still allowed smoking.

Does it surprise you? Alabama is trashy.

It is. Most cities, though, have banned smoking in restaurants. There also are ordinances that allow for smoking after certain times, like 10 PM. This typically applies to bars that double as a restaurant during the early evening hours.
