Why is it bad manners to slurp soup?

Put this hot metal scoop on my tongue and pour the burning liquid down my throat? Sure, that's more polite than sucking the soup in a manner to not burn you and be enjoyed by your taste receptors.

Why not just put ice cubes in your soup if you're gonna do that?

because there is a difference between hot and sclading hot just like there is a difference between hot soup and cold watered down soup

Because then you are watering down the soup, thereby altering the flavor.
