Singapore - HGG's trip review

Spent some time here for work, and got out and about. Here are some pics...and yes, it is EXPENSIVE AS frick. YOu can eat local and eat cheap but anything at the hotel is stupid expensive....for a coke and club sandwich was around $30 USD. I stayed at the Mandarin Orietal, which was undoubtedly the highest level of customer service I have ever experienced. They knew my name when I checked in and called me Mr. ******* the entire time, coming and going.


Here are some pics of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. It was about 10am and I was a zombie from the flight (from Houston).

View from the second room....I was upgraded because I had to wait for my first room to be ready. Again, customer service was out of this world. If you look in the distance you'll see dozens of oil tankers waiting their turn to come into the port. Singapore oil/gas is growing faster than it can handle so you arrive with your cargo and can sometimes wait a week until your turn to bring your ship in.




Here are some random pics from walking around the town. They have malls with any expensive store and brand you can ever imagine, and also the shitty locals market...which is where I visited. Food was cheap and the people watching was incredible.

Their street food scene is HUGE. Lots of vendors and foods from all over the region are represented well. Skewers are quite popular with the locals because they are plentiful and cheap.












I don't know the name, but it was ground up liver and snout, deep fried with an egg. Super salty but not that bad to eat.






This is a huge pavillion in the CBD that is crazy busy for lunchtime...same thing with foods from all over the region.





Marinaa Bay Sands Hotel is the hotel you've seen and heard about is EVERYTHING you can imagine it to be... just plan fricking awesome. That's all I can say. Rooftop pool 57 floors up, eye candy everywhere. They chare locals up to $100 to get into the casino, but if you are a foreigner and bring your passport there is NO charge. I didn't play but did walk around....nothing too special but I didn't go near the high-stakes salon.

The hotel has nightly water and laser light shows that are mind-blowing....it was stuff I would have expected to see at Disney World.















Clarke Quay (pronounced "Clarke key") is the touristy section of Singapore, but it was packed with what seemed to be locals. Lots of solid food choices and entertainment, live bands that played American music that were pretty damn good actually.












Had me a Korean BBQ meal for the first time, thought it was great!






They designed this hanging garden after Avatar, it was pretty crazy.
