A carriage house type place?

The person who owned our house was such a terrible decorator I'm pretty sure that shaved off 20k. Made the house look awful.

The problem is these young folk will be moving away when it's time to send their kids to school. Bad schools and a weak white collar economy is not much of a recipe for long term growth.

Sometimes I get a little nostalgic and look at jobs in New Orleans on Indeed. I don't know what people do around there for white collar jobs. It's a depressing job market.

shite needs to hurry up

I've set up appointments to view two non dirt cheap sub 1000 sqft condos - one was sold the day it hit MLS & my appointment was cancelled and the other went for an over asking price all cash offer the day after it hit MLS

It's 1/4 of a house, not a standalone property.

Ya I just picked that up from the above post.

You could have just said condo from the beginning

My brother bought one a few months after me in the garden district. I have mixed feelings about them. But I see the allure if you aren't married and such.

I got into the 70115 at 325k.

Come at me bro

Accordingly, I overpaid by 100k so your experience may differ.

the extra $100k you paid is the premium for allowing live stock in your neighborhood.

The interior of that place is cheesy as hell, much better options in the quarter.

yeah, i'm not a fan either. the curtained off "bedrooms" in the loft area upstairs aren't my thing. could be a cool VBRO or bachelor pad, but its terribly unpractical.

Yeah, I make a nice salary for my age & I'm looking for something small sub-1000 sqft with 2 bd + 1-2 ba.

Broadmoor, Leonidas, Carrolton, Mid-City, Irish Channel, & Lower Garden are all $300k+ for even the smaller properties. Parts of Gentilly & Bywater/St Claude are about the only spots you're seeing under $300k, and Bywater/St Claude still aren't great areas.

Yep, I'm married and have been casually looking for a 3 bd 2-3 ba in 70115 area (probably not going to buy for a couple years), but everything I'm seeing is in the 450k+ range.

New Orleans crime is trending down Real estate is trending up growth is trending up Economy trending up and has no bearing on any one industry
all it would take is another katrina to change all of that...and to think that it will never happen again is naive.

Why? Are you involved in illegal activity or associated with people who are? I'd be shocked if the parties to the shootings were otherwise upstanding citizens.
