Nola people dont move baw. The young white people moving back into the city are alot of kids that grew up in the burbs of Metairie and Kenner. It is popular to once again to live in the city. They will simply send their kids to the same private school they went to
I don't know what the macro looks like, but the professionals I know (not locals) are coming up on child birthing time and starting to look outwards to other cities.
But I could see you being right about those from the metro area.
And of course, my experience doesn't speak to everyone, I'm only talking about 10 people or so

Way to many murders in Nola for the city to ever gain traction. It will always be a bottom tier US city where a lot of crime is committed. But there will always me Mardi gras!

Don't let facts and statistics get in your way.
New Orleans crime is trending down
Real estate is trending up
growth is trending up
Economy trending up and has no bearing on any one industry
Explain to me what here shows it is the next Detroit?

Detroit had a strong push of young white people move inside the city?

You have said this twice now. Can you provide any info to back it up?

The murders. The violence. The robberies. Nola is the smallest city population wise and is 8th on that list. That's pathetic.
Don't get me wrong. NO has some positives but nobody from out of state is moving to NO long term.
Plus the city itself stinks.

New Orleans is overbuilding nice apartments / condos and hotels
also to the point emerging in this threade, i moved here three years ago. I probably won't stay for more than a few more years.

Hecht cites proof points that back his claim, including a strong economy with GDP growth being tops of the nation, the diversification that came with new sectors including an emerging environmental industry and one of the fastest growing software sectors in the country, and the changing demographics where New Orleans is number one in the country for in migration for college educated people in their prime
quote:forbes
From 2008 to 2010, the New Orleans metro lost only 1 percent of jobs compared to 5 percent lost nationwide, according to reports from The Data Center. By 2014, metro New Orleans had recouped these losses and reached 5 percent above its 2008 level, while the nation reached only 1 percent above its 2008 level
I honestly thought it was common knowledge. There was article after article the last few years how even in the crash New Orleans remained steady

You actually have no idea what the hell you are talking about....... But keep up the schtick, if it works for you, I guess.

NO needs leadership. Something the city has lacked for many years.

Okay Sid, I guess you know it all then!
New Orleans has no crime problems. Not even close to the worse in the nation. Sigh.
