SHREVEPORT (AP) — A 78-year-old Shreveport woman faces up to 10 years in prison for cashing Social Security checks mistakenly sent to a dead man for nearly three decades.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Rose Marie Jackson Allen will be sentenced Sept. 8. She pleaded guilty Wednesday to theft of government property. Court records show she shared a post office box with a Thomas Jackson, whose 1986 death was not discovered until last year. She collected more than $200,000 in illegal benefits.

Damn Democrats.

Sad part is, she probably has nothing to show for the funds she collected.

She is 78.

If you actually believe she will face any time you are not that smart.

She pleaded and is doing some side stuff to "say I'm sorry" and will walk away from this.

Government is too incompetent to find a mans pulse so they are going to arrest a lady for it

It's $6666 dollars a year. That's the OTs weekly paycheck.

$200,000 over 30 years is only $555.56/month. It's not like she hit the Powerball.....

With as much as the OT bitches about leeches and trashy people living off the government (from our paychecks!) I think it's funny that this woman is seemingly given a pass because 1)she's old 2)it's not "that" much money.

She's a thief. She knows her name isn't Thomas Jackson.

So much racism/stereotypes in one post. Nice work, particularly as you're trying to call out others for the same thing.

Only because she's probably already receiving section 8 housing, free Obamacare, food stamps, and/or 23 other state and federal entitlement program moneys.

A New Orleans woman admitted Thursday (April 21) that she was guilty of forging the signature of her grandmother on social security checks for more than 16 years after her grandmother's death, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Court documents filed Thursday in the Eastern District of Louisiana alleged that 56-year-old Myrna Shiloh knowingly embezzled the Social Security Administration out of more than $150,100. Shiloh admitted to committing the theft of public money from Feb. 3, 1999 to March 2, 2015, U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite said.

A Detroit-area woman who stole nearly $280,000 from the federal government won’t spend a day in prison.

Elaine Hayes was placed on supervised release, similar to probation, for three years Monday. Her mother died in 1989, but Hayes continued to collect benefits from the Social Security Administration for nearly 25 years.
