So it's day 2 of the infamous Shreveport garbage crew strike... a day that will always be remembered as, "Hey, why is the trash still here this morning?" day. Never forget.

Alright. Now Scruffy has an excuse for why he didn't put his trashcan on the street last night.

Upvote.

It is my understanding that they are only getting paid $8 to $12 per hour, and private companies are nearly doubling that locally.

I just wonder if this will go a few days and really back up the system. Last weekend would have not been a good weekend to clean a bunch of fish if you know what I mean.

They picked mine up yesterday.

The city is absolutely pathetic in salaries though. The problem is that our budget is screwed even though we're not paying employees enough and we have the highest property tax in the state.

The news said they had enough guys show up to run 14 trucks, but that the average is about 40 trucks per day around town.

So they are working on it, but it will not take long to get behind at that rate.

I just wanted to stir the pot.

I got exposed to the Shreveport/Bossier and Monroe/West Monroe rivalries my freshman year at LA Tech. It was always good entertainment. They used to squabble about the dumbest shite like who had the nicest Johnny's Pizza.

I don't have a dog in the hunt, but I would be willing to bet at least some of these posters bashing Shreveport are from Baton Rouge.

I am more concerned about the new policy that requires you call for an appointment to pick up limbs and such that don't fit in the can.

A friend called in late July. Next available appointment was in September.

I hope that was just temporary due to the big storm, but either way it is pitiful.

Yeah, we experienced that too. But then some reporter came down our street looking to interview people about the new system and I complained...next day, the limbs in the front yard were magically picked up. Imagine that.

I can say that because I grew up there. The Port and Bossier will always have a special place in my heart because it is home. And I still have family there.
