Shreveport's long term decline really started when a lot of the city leaders died in a plane crash in the 1950's I believe. Without that event, Shreveport may have remained the oil capital of the South instead of Houston. But the more recent decline has been caused by the population loss to the Bossier side of the Red River.

You disagree with my psychological assessment? He's a normal, sane dude?
Hell, he might sick his in-house counsel on me like he did that City Counsilwoman.

Honestly had not been to Shreveport until 2 weeks ago. The whole place looks/feels sketchy.

This is entirely overblown. The Wallace lake crash was not going to matter in regards to keeping United Gas in Shreveport. All the major pipeline companies moved to Houston and the gas pipeline hub shifted with them.

Channel 3 is doing good reporting on the corruption story. Not just the website that was mentioned.

What? You mean the stadium proposal wasn’t legit?
That damn things screamed kickbacks and pocket lining from the get go.
It’s not a surprise that the city officials are under investigation. They have done almost zero to improve buildings and infrastructure but claim to have no money.

Scott Pernici did nothing wrong here. He found a way for the City of Shreveport to get an extra million a year in water bills. The city then breached on their contract to pay him. The city is the only ones at fault here.
Additionally, the city has been selling city contracts. Highly illegal.

All of this news was originally published by Shreveport Times and KTBS first.
The accusations are very true.
