I tend to avoid Sonic all together because of the tipping thing. I feel guilty if I don't tip, yet annoyed with myself that I feel obligated to tip them for walking to my car.

Yes. The servers are trying to make a go of it working for minimum wage or less. Rest assured if they had the skills or opportunity to be working another job, then they would be doing that job. I give them credit for working. It's not like your spending a bunch or money at Sonic. Tip them a dollar or two.
