With all of the recent attention given to police shootings/brutality and of course the response of the media would it be a good idea to require policemen to follow the ROE we require soldiers to follow or at least the domestic version (RUF)?

In many situations American soldiers are not allowed to return fire or initiate fire, even if physical harm is foreseeable. (I know that ROE do allow for self-defense as it is narrowly defined by them).

IMO unruly citizen thugs are the ones who need to learn some rules, and let those who are putting their life on the line continue to uphold justice for everyone else.

Criminals aren't going to follow any rules of engagement, hamstringing police officers with rules and procedures is a good way to get good men killed. They do what they need to do to go home at night.

No, I think they should have less restrictions actually. Far more people should be shot imo

Being a policeman is not quite as dangerous as everyone seems to believe.

It had an alright run but I don't think mandatory viewing for any show is appropriate.

Did your place of employment find it necessary to issue you a gun, bullet proof vest, and training on self defense before you went out to do your day-to-day job?

You may disagree since you're such a bad arse, but don't you think most people would expect to be able to work and them come home safely EVERY day?

No. Cops are heros and command respect. Disrespect and get shot. Acquiesce and you can live. There is no middle ground.

Google Use of Force Continuum.

That is what LEOs use for ROE.

Are you saying cops are at war with average citizens? They certainly act like it anyway.
