Ok so VERY random request. A colleague of mine (lives in DC) emailed me last night needing a favor. Apparently a close family friend is in Hospice in Chatanooga, TN. This person has a request for some gulf shrimp- fresh, boiled, or steamed (uh no). Does anyone know who would send quality fresh shrimp overnight to someone? I have not clue how to go about sending boiled shrimp. Unfortunately I am not in LA today because I am traveling.

The reach of the OT is pretty significant. Anyone have an idea how to accomplish this? I presume someone could just google this but who knows about quality. Thoughts or point me in the direction to accomplish this.

ETA- the shrimp would be for the ill person and 3 family members as a "last" meal type thing.

Thanks in advance.

Contact Fed EX or UPS. They provide dry ice shipping.

I'm not sure Cap because I've never done it. But maybe call Tony's seafood. They will ship and they usually have boiled shrimp in their case. So instead of boiling myself and trying to pack in dry ice, I would probably find someone on the internet that does it.

Shipped some live blue crabs to my Dad last year from a company out of Boston. They were awesome but VERY expensive.

Good luck. Whatever the cost it will be worth it for your friend.

For those that care. $60 minimum shipping but that is for 10 lbs of stuff at Tony's. Lady was really nice and willing to ship today to get it there tomorrow for this gentleman's "last" meal. Thanks so much OT

Alliteration always allows an astute answer.

Sorry for the hospice angle, you are a good friend to assist in this matter.

My folks are in the seafood industry, and we ship seafood via UPS to family members.

From Louisiana to DC will be around 3 business days.

Usually pack the seafood in a styrofoam cooler, and put a ton of those little frozen gel packs in there. Make sure you tape the shite out of it.

Put the styrofoam cooler into a "wax" cardboard box (so if it leaks, water will not damage the box).

I tend to ship on Mondays so it doesn't get caught up on the weekends.

*disclaimer-I will be held liable if the seafood arrives spoiled.
