When Figo the service dog saw an oncoming mini school bus heading for Audrey Stone, the blind woman he was trained to guide, the golden retriever's protective instincts kicked in:

He shouldn't have led her there to begin with

There's a joke there somewhere.

It's not worth the effort. There's a classical type of thinking that makes people believe they're separate and above everything else. No one will listen to evidence of the contrary.

I don't get how he saved her. It's not like he slowed the bus down by also getting hit.

It has nothing to do with that. It's trying to determine reality and probability. Is it probable that this dog showed some type of super human instinct to protect something by actually sacrificing itself? Survival instinct would say that the dog would have actually pulled the owner out of the middle of the street and saved its life. That is alot more believable than a dog making a conscious effort to sacrifice it's own body to save a human in a split second decision like that. There is a VERY good chance that the dog just got hit by the bus, just like the lady did.

The fact remains that humans are collectively pieces of shite...so anything better than a piece of shite is >>>>humans.

And dogs are way better than pieces of shite.

I see what you mean, but that's not a superhuman instinct. Dogs make sacrifices for the good of others very often actually. It's fair to say though that the thought of a bus being certain death never crossed its mind in that moment.
