Photographer caught 12-14 tornadoes within one hour in Colorado. The red is from red dirt dust.

It's a shame those power poles were in the second picture, it would have been more nicely composed, in my opinion.

Cool pictures though, kidding.

I didn't realize until I visited Colorado that the entire Eastern half of the state is almost completely flat. Makes for some good tornado watching.

Also mindblowing that part of Oklahoma borders Colorado, and that you can drive from the far NW corner of TX to the far SE corner of CO in less than 30 minutes.

I love geographical oddities.

Colorado has some awesome looking tornados since the eastern part is flat as a pancake. Ideal conditions.

The second to the last one is called a "Dusty Buster." You can actually drive a car through the funnel of one if you are going 90+ mph and torpedo through at the proper angle. But your car will be caked in dirt and dust from undercarriage to rooftop. I don't know if "Dusty Buster" is a common used name but that's what we called them in East Rado. Rule of thumb was if they are kicking up dust and dirt clouds at the base it was safe because the funnel itself was weakening in strength and destructive power. A strong funnel will actually drill into the ground and push all the debris downward....not upward.
